Looks Can Be Deceiving- Image of the Week

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

When you hire a professional photographer you should expect that professional to know lighting and posing and be skilled in photographing you in a way that is flattering. You should also expect that no matter how challenging the location may be, they will be able to use their skills and expertise to maximize whatever resources are available. Although we do a large quantity of portraits in our studio, photographing in remote locations is a fun challenge for us. It’s an opportunity to step out of the boat and create unique images in a unique setting, like this week’s Image of the Week. No one knows the extensive hike it took to travel to this location, the sand dunes at the Outer Banks, in the very hot summer weather. You also can’t tell that the photographer and model were sunburned, had blisters on their feet, and were completely exhausted when they reached their destination. What you do see is a unique portrait in an unlikely place that reflects the adventurous personalities of the photographer and model, no matter how difficult it was to get there! Don’t be afraid to reflect your personality in your bridal portraits, as quirky or odd as your friends and family may say it is. Not every bride wants an in-studio portrait, so for those that want a little adventure and something off the beaten path, we accept your challenge!
